How to keep Bats out
There are ways you can prevent bats from roosting in your loft in the first place, you should make sure that there are no small points of access for them. Leaving mirrors or Christmas baubles up in your loft may also help to deter them from roosting there as they do not like shiny objects. Another deterrent is to put some eucalyptus oil or cinnamon as these smells often put bats off. Of course there is always the option to keep your loft space always lit up.
Renovation
If you are looking to buy a property with bats in do think about the fact that the bats will be considered if you put in for any planning permission as you will then have to have a bat survey. If you do not do this then your planning permission may be refused, you will have to cater to the bat colony living within your property. This will be in the form of a bat box or a bat loft, this does however depend on the species as to how access will work.
